OUR EBV APPROACH

EBVs and data don’t always tell the full story.

But there is no denying that good data is now an essential part of breeding elite Angus cattle.

We don’t breed for data, but ensuring the cattle we sell feature good numbers is now an important objective.

We use custom-built software which analyses EBV data and optimises our breeding decisions to ensure we produce quality, structurally sound, phenotypically appealing cattle that also have strong, balanced EBV profiles

THE 50th PERCENTILE

Angus Australia EBVs are measured in percentiles.

The 50th percentile indicates the ‘median’ or ‘middle of the road’ registered Angus animal.

Think of this as an approximation of the ‘average’ of the breed.

Comparing how many points above or below this 50th percentile our herd is lets us measure if that herd is above or below the median for each trait.

Some of our top end bulls have stronger numbers, some have weaker - but this shows the high average standard across our entire program.
