OUR APPROACH
Jackaroo Angus Stud is a proudly family owned and operated boutique stud operation that takes great pride in delivering high quality Angus genetics to our customers through producing structurally sound, docile and fertile cattle which suit any program or location.
To achieve our objectives, we combine advanced, modern methods of analysis with old-fashioned core Angus principles to create a 'best of both worlds' approach which allows us to breed and raise cattle which 'tick every box' and develop into balanced, healthy, sustainable assets to any Angus herd.
We recognise the importance of EBVs and data, and are proud to offer cattle with strong EBV profiles, but we do not single trait select or chase unnatural extremes, always remaining grounded in our principle of breeding cattle which need to be productive, easy-calving and easy to manage for both us and our customers.
Pedigree is at the heart of what we do, with Jackaroo Angus Stud proudly incorporating and offering a range of rare, exclusive and hard-to-access elite US bloodlines into the Australian market, giving our customers access to pedigrees and genetics that are difficult to access elsewhere.
Our cattle are hand-weaned with a high level of care and dedication to ensure that our entire herd are calm, safe and easy to handle and familiar with working dogs, bikes, cars and people. This steadfast dedication and care in our weaning process is what leads to such docile cattle - a hallmark of the Jackaroo Angus Stud brand.
OUR STORY
Jackaroo Pastoral Co. Pty Ltd commenced in 2008 with the acquisition of Rockwell and Blue Lakes in South Western Queensland near Cunnamulla.
The 121,502 acre station was considered an ambitious jump into the industry with no shallow pool to start operating as basically a 'calf factory' with Santa Gertrudis selling weaners into the Queensland market. With the later introduction of some quality Angus bulls to throw lovely black calves we were covered to sell the black weaners into the NSW market. We acquired Neverfail and Wyuna and jumped up to over 200,000 acres with real scope for bigger numbers.
We eventually sold opportunistically and decided a small, boutique operation was the best fit to work at quality rather than quantity. Based at 'Wangrah Creek' Bredbo, the gateway to the Snowy region, at just 750m elevation, Jackaroo Angus Stud commenced. We are centrally located to breed Angus cattle and supply future sires into the NSW, Queensland or Victorian markets. We have a secondary enterprise breeding and selling F1 Wagyu weaners that integrates seamlessly into our operation. This is an evolving families and friends type business enterprise borne of passion yet we take it very seriously so everything is underpinned by care and professionalism with focus on excellence in outcomes for ourselves and our clients.
